Revelation Level-UP!
9/13/22 4:35pm
Proverbs 13:7 KJV
“There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.”
OMG!
I’m seeing this verse way differently now!
Here I am, approx 48hrs after learning the deeper specifics regarding how the rich can legally evade taxation— how Elon Musk “makes no money” therefore cannot be taxed, despite being wealthy enough to have anything & everything he could ever want (provided it exists)…
Then suddenly the aforementioned verse (Prov 13:7) comes up as I listen to the Proverb of the day (Sep 13th ~> chapter 13)…
And verse 7 hits COMPLETELY different this time around…!
You see, prior to today, I took that to mean being loving/charitable (the word “love” is commonly interchangeable w/ “charity” in the scriptures) to your own detriment will result in being handsomely compensated by God through men giving unto your bosom; while withholding or being niggardly will result in you being left wanting…
Proverbs 10:4 KJV
“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”
And maybe my prior interpretation is still applicable (or even the primary one), but now, I’m left with a more nuanced understanding of that very verse. Which couldn’t’ve come to me without first having been handed the esoteric financial tidbits I newly possess.
So does that mean that our “proper” understanding of God’s Word will always be lacking without us first having a vast exposure to the natural world in which we live…? No, I don’t believe so. If that were true, then a traditional housewife —whose precious time is spent largely indoors, occupied with raising up God-honoring children and keeping the house in order while her loving husband brings home the bacon— would NEVER have the opportunity to know her Maker as deeply & intimately as a God-fearing archaeologist might.
Thankfully it doesn’t work that way; thankfully, we know that God will draw near to whoever draws near to Him…
James 4:8 KJV
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you...”
Therefore, if anything, it just punctuates the timelessness of God’s wisdom— that the words that came out of God’s mouth thousands of years ago are never without a foundation, a scenario, or a situation they can be applied to, even TODAY!
Amen
