Afraid, be not!

(pay close attention to the punctuation)

3/16/22 —Simply put…

  • To be = to exist
  • To be not = to cease existing

(in a temporal sense)

Joshua 1:9 KJV

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Genesis 5:24 KJV

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

ENOCH;

  • Now you see him…
  • Now you don’t.
  • For God said ‘Be not’ (come home)

AFRAID;

  • Now you see it…
  • Now you don’t.
  • For God said ‘Be not’ (be gone)

Where God is, AFRAID cannot exist. For God and AFRAID occupy opposite ends of the same spectrum. Also, God is with me wherever I am; I can never be parted from God:

  • See above (Josh 1:9)
  • Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deut 31:6)
  • Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. (1 John 4:17)

Thus, wherever I am or go, AFRAID will have to vacate. It cannot remain there. Upon gaining this revelation I (and YOU!) shall never again hereafter (legally) experience what it means to be afraid. Additionally…

Joshua 1:3-4 KJV

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, ALL the land of the Hittites (‘hatat’; terrors, terrible), and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

I own TERROR’s dwelling place; the territory where TERRIBLE originates —and goes to lay its head— God has given me, through Christ and Abraham (Gal 3:29). And as if that wasn’t good enough…

1 Corinthians 3:16-23 KJV

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;

22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;

23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

God is incapable of lying. So to the SAME exact extent that Christ is God’s possession, ALL things (e.g. fright, terror) —according to God, who places His Word even above His own name (Psa 138:2)— are mine!

Now fright and terror are just synonyms for fear, and what gives fear its relevance is the existence of punishment; which is made relevant by the Law— the Ministry of Death. To reiterate: Without the Law there (basically) is no right-&-wrong; without right-&-wrong there is no punishment; without punishment there is no fear; and without fear one cannot be afraid. That’s important to understand for various reasons but the most vital (and recurring) one, when it comes to our Christian walk, is that the Law (through fear) voids faith (Rom 11:6); and without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6).

There will never be a transaction to take place between you and God that won’t require the stuff, so you’re gonna wanna get to work on practicing ‘being not afraid’ (or, even when you are, not allowing it to freeze you into inaction)— much sooner than later.

Yes & amen

P.S - If nothing else, this entry was an elaborate example of how altering where you place your emphasis in the reading of a sentence/statement can enrich (or damage) your overall understanding of what’s being communicated. A worthwhile exercise, if I do say so myself!
