PEACE, as it pertains to the believer, is at least threefold: 1) safety/protection, 2) sustenance, & 3) clothing

Want for any fold involved in this threefold cord of peace, is by default, a lack thereof.

Genesis 28:16-22 KJV+

And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will 1) be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will 2) give me bread to eat, and 3) raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father's house in PEACE; then shall the Lord be my God:

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

“THEN shall the LORD be my God”

It’s like God is saying (to anyone who would hearken and contemplate these loaves) to hold Him accountable, and see that He doesn’t (cannot!) slack in any fold of this not-easily-broken cord of ++peace. God is God, He cannot BUT be God —like water cannot but be wet— so this means my peace (more specifically, my safety, my sustenance, & my **glorified raiment {Matt **6:25, **28-29}) is built and established upon an unshakable foundation.

Note++

Peace here is Shalom, and as broad as the applications for our (non-Hebrew) uncultured interpretation of “peace” may be, the ‘Brews take the idea to even greater extents…

Strong’s Concordance says: Shalom =

  • completeness
  • safety
  • soundness
  • welfare
  • health
  • supply
  • peace
  • QUIET
  • tranquility
  • contentment
  • friendship (horizontally)
  • friendship (vertically, covenant wise)

Note**

Life is more than food, and the body more than clothing; Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount suggests that the state of our bodies’ health is more of a priority than the quality and status of the clothing we would put upon it. However this does not mean there isn’t a correlation between: a) life and the quality of food He’ll provide us with to sustain it, and b) our physical health and the quality of raiment He’ll provide us with to clothe it.

That conclusion is drawn not only from contemplating the truths Jesus point us to regarding how the lilies of the field grow despite not toiling for their own wellbeing nor rotating (to accentuate their inherent visual appeal, thus drawing man’s life-extending assistance?):

-

Matthew 6:24-30 KJV+

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in ALL his glory (a king, additionally the WISEST & WEALTHIEST man to ever walk this earth) was not arrayed like one of these (Was Solomon’s health lacking? Would that’ve been a result of his sexual sins?).

30 Wherefore, if God so (in the aforementioned manner) clothe the grass of the field (the flowers —which are clothed themselves— are the grass’s clothing), which to day is, and to morrow is cast (flung; casting/flinging is not how things of value are to be handled) into the oven, shall he not MUCH MORE clothe you, O ye of little faith (notice that these gracious benefits are a given even for those who lack the faith to believe for this divine provision)?

-

—but also from how the soldiers behaved over Jesus’ garments (who could possibly have been healthier than the Son of the living God, who came to us in the LIKENESS of sinful flesh, yet lacking even a trace of it?); it stands to reason that if Jesus is tying the two together as one —that is, 1) the body being more than 2) clothing; and further punctuating it by using king Solomon and common lilies to marry your health to your clothing— then being divinely-healthy, Jesus’ own clothing would have to have been something worth causing a fuss about. And it was…

-

Matthew 27:35 KJV

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Luke 23:34 KJV

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

John 19:23-24 KJV

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

-

Would YOU spare from damage, and cast lots for, something whose quality wasn’t worth causing a stir over? One man’s ensemble was good enough for five soldiers to carefully part then gamble for and divvy up.

Serving mammon is the logical way of going about securing the finer things in life. So how can those of us who enjoy such things go about getting them without putting in the elbow grease, and subsequently spending what we’ve earned, to array ourselves in the glory/splendor (Matt 6:29) that is customary for people of status like Solomon was? God is saying there’s a better way; and that we —those of us with this revelation, even we lacking in the faith to pull off heftier transactions with the Kingdom of God (Matt 6:30), are already more than halfway there!

Matthew 6:31-33 KJV+

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and HIS righteousness; and ALL these things shall be ADDED unto you.

Peace (Shalom) is a given for the believer. It’s assigned to you by default just for existing, and the more you understand of this divine provision, the better the provision automatically becomes; because your understanding dictates the demand that you naturally —through faith; ‘faith cometh by hearing Christ’s words’— place on the applicable covenants you’re in with God.

And if this grade of provision is what’s apportioned out for us via peace, can you imagine how much more God is willing to give to those of us who will HONORABLY ask Him for even more…?

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 KJV+

And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest 1) bless me indeed, and 2) enlarge my coast, and 3) that thine hand might be with me, and 4) that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Matthew 7:7-12 KJV+

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12 THEREFORE all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Cheers, My Fellow Believers…

To even greater measures and quality of peace —safety/protection, sustenance, & raiment— henceforth; and the boldness to honorably ask our ABBA-Father for even MORE of what this world has to offer the seed of Abraham— its faithful heir. Lehayim!

Yes & amen

Shalom,
